Orangevale never really got subdivided the way the rest of northeast Sacramento did. Behind Greenback Lane and off Main, Central and Filbert you still find half-acre and acre lots, gravel driveways, detached shops, horse fencing and the occasional pasture, and the practical effect for us is that vehicles here live outside. Trucks and work vehicles sit uncovered under full sun, take dust off unpaved drives, and get sap from the oaks that everyone here has kept. That is a heat problem and a paint problem at the same time.
The lots themselves make it worse. Most of them are open to the west with no tree line to help, so a truck that has stood on the drive since lunch is an oven by five, and one that is going to be kept for years bleaches out a little more every summer. For that use case, yes, with one caveat we would rather say up front. A coating is chemical protection: it stops dust, sap and water spotting from bonding to the clear coat and it slows UV oxidation, and it makes a dusty vehicle far quicker to wash. It is not armour, and it will not stop a rock chip or a gate scraping a fender. That is body shop work and we will say so.
