A car parked all day at the El Dorado Hills Business Park or outside the Town Center is sitting in open sun on a hillside with no shade, and on an EV that cabin heat comes straight out of the battery on the drive home. New villages, new cars and a lot of construction dust
El Dorado Hills is still being built. Serrano and The Promontory are established, but Blackstone and the Valley View villages off Latrobe Road are going up around the people already living in them, and a neighbourhood under construction is hard on paint. Graded dirt blows across the streets all summer, work trucks track it onto the roads, and a car parked outside a new build picks up a fine layer of it every day. Wiped off dry, that dust is an abrasive. Left to bake in the afternoon sun, it holds water spots against the clear coat.
The vehicles here are, on the whole, newer ones: large curved rear glass, full glass roofs, and a lot of electric cars sitting all day in the Town Center or the Business Park lots on Latrobe with nothing overhead. It is a longer drive to us than Folsom, five or so miles further up Highway 50, but it is still a single corridor. Everything is installed at 1972 Fulton Ave in Sacramento, about thirty minutes away, because film is cut by machine and coatings cure properly only in a clean, climate-controlled bay.

No. Window tint is governed by state law, so the rule on Latrobe Road is the rule on Fulton Ave. On the front side windows California allows only clear, colourless film that passes 88% of light on its own, with glass and film together at 70% VLT or above. No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling it. A ceramic coating is a thin, hard layer that resists chemical etching, UV oxidation, water spotting and fine scratching from dust. It is not thick enough to absorb the impact of a stone. What it does very well is keep construction dust, sap and bug residue from damaging the clear coat.
Yes. The largest discretionary load on an electric car is pulling a sun-soaked cabin back down to a comfortable temperature, and ceramic film cuts how much heat gets in to begin with. We will not promise a fixed range figure, because it depends on the car and the day, but a car that parks in the open every day is exactly where the film pays off.
A full-vehicle tint takes two to three hours; a ceramic coating takes longer because the paint is decontaminated and the coating cures indoors.
